Cycling Event

Enjoy a class cycling event on the Maryland Eastern Shore. A beautiful ride through the flat countryside of the Eastern Shore for cyclists of all skill and experience levels. Rides will provide challenge for more accomplished riders with an 81 kilometer course (about 50 miles) and a nice recreational ride of 18 miles. No Cost.

How much is the registration fee and what does it cover?

  • Reunion registration will be handled by the Sign Up Now (SUN) site. The link is www.signupnow.events/USNA1981. This link, along with other Reunion information, can be found on our class website www.usna1981.org.
  • All attendees must pay the registration fee. Other events may be selected based on each classmate’s interests. Some events have separate fees and some do not.
  • The registration fee includes: Annapolis Events service fee; Sign Up Now Registration; Lanyard with Name Tag; SWAG; Refreshments at Thursday Registration; Fleugel Rent for 3 September
  • Can I add participation for events after I’ve paid on my first visit to the site?
    • Yes, you can make changes to your selections prior to 31 July. Note: You can add registration or events after 31 July – just no cancellation.
  • Can we invite the families of fallen classmates to our reunion and all events?
    • Yes, we can do that – contact George Basil if you have a fallen classmate’s family member who wishes to attend, and provide the events/contact information for them so we may add them
  • What is the SWAG website for ordering, and how will that work?
    • The website for ordering SWAG is www.foreverfirstie.com.
    • You can order SWAG and it will be shipped to your home – please note that if you want to purchase items from Forever Firstie and have them prior to reunion, you should order by early August. For people ordering individual items from Forever Firstie it will usually take less than 10 days.
    • BULK SWAG orders (like those items the Class will provide at check-in) will be ordered by reunion committee 6 weeks out. If you register after 21 July you may have to pay for shipping of SWAG to your home.
    • To that end, we do not plan to order extra items for the Class-provided SWAG, so please register for the reunion as soon as possible

Can I pay with cash or check?

For simplicity, credit card transactions only- cash and check are not accepted.

What is the processing fee?

The processing fee covers the credit card transaction fees.

What is the cancellation policy?

  • We are aware that unforeseen circumstances may arise after you register and sign up for the reunion. We also have deadlines to meet with service providers and caterers for our planned events. Therefore, the following summarizes our cancellation policy:
    • Once signed up and paid, cancellations will be processed as submitted until 31 July 2026
    • Beginning 1 August 2026, any request for cancellation will be handled on a case-by-case basis, and need to be communicated to George Basil ([email protected])
    • Once cancellations are processed, it will take up to 30-45 calendar days for the cancellation credit to be posted to your credit card, less 3% processing fees

Do I need a passport to gain access to the Yard?

A government issued photo ID such as MIlitary ID, a Driver's License, Passport or Passport Card is required to enter the Yard

What if I'm married to a classmate, do we both have to pay the Classmate registration fee?

Yes. Since we base the registration fee on the number of classmates attending the reunion to cover the fixed costs for the entire weekend, we ask that all classmates pay their fee. Each classmate will need to create their own registration. This ensures each classmate has a proper name tag.

What do I need to shop at the Mid Store?

NOTE: Reunion name tags will NOT allow alumni to shop. *ALL Alumni Shopping at the Midshipman Store MUST Register For a Midshipman Store Shopping Card HERE! Rings, Lifetime Membership/Gold Cards, Reunion Badges, etc. NO Longer Can Be Used for Access to the Midshipman Store. You MUST Sign-Up and Have a Midshipman Store Card to be able to Shop in the Mid Store.

Do I need a ticket to get into the Tailgate?

  • Yes, A ticket to the game is required to attend the Tailgate – you can purchase tickets through NAAA – we have a ticket block reserved for Class of ’81 reunion. The ticket link is https://www.gofevo.com/event/1981usna2. Also, you may visit the Class of 1981 website reunion page for the link to the game ticket block and other reunion activities.
  • Season ticket holders and others who wish to purchase single game tickets can use their tickets for entry to the Tailgate area. All Tailgate attendees will be required to purchase the tailgate entry and will be provided a wristband for that event
    • Water, Iced Tea, Beer and Wine will be provided beverages as part of the Tailgate fee
    • For other beverages, such as whiskey, vodka, etc., there will be a cash bar.
  • The tailgate will open two hours before game kickoff – once published by NAAA, the time will be set and communicated

What is going on with the Cycling Event and Golf Tournament?

  • The cycling event will occur on 2 September and is being organized by Tony Perotti
  • The Golf Tournament will occur on 3 September at Compass Pointe in Pasadena, MD, and is being organized by Jaime Navarro and assisted by Barry Hubbard

Is there a class headquarters hotel?

As a reminder, there is not a headquarters hotel for this reunion. Everyone will need to make lodging arrangements on their own. We encourage classmates to do this early as hotels and short term rentals go quickly during football season.

Where can I park for events during the weekend?

  • Events On the Yard **Requirements to drive on the Yard may change or be updated. Currently, access is very restricted for both driving access and pedestrian access. We will update this information as needed. In the meantime, you can refer to the USNA.edu site at www.usna.edu/visit for the current information.
  • Fluegel Alumni Center Reception
    • Parking in Fluegel Alumni Center lot is extremely limited.
    • Bishop Stadium Lot is across the street from the Fluegel.
    • Halligan Hall Lot is available after working hours.
    • Consider walking or another means of transportation to Fluegel.
    • Fluegel Alumni Center is NOT on the Yard so no ID required to enter.
  • Tailgate at the Stadium
    • If you do not have a season parking pass along with season tickets for Football, you will not be able to park at the stadium
    • Westin Hotel and adjacent garage may be the closest parking to the stadium
