CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS TO WORK A BENEFIT CONCERT ON 7/28 IN DOWNTOWN ANNAPOLIS FOR THE CAPITAL GAZETTE AND FREEDOM OF THE PRESS
On Saturday, July 28, from noon-11 p.m., the City of Annapolis will host Annapolis Rising: A Benefit Concert for The Capital Gazette and Freedom of the Press.
The event will feature approximately 10 bands and journalism-related speakers/celebrities. There will be one main stage situated on the street on College Avenue with the back drop of the Maryland State House. The audience will be on the street along Bladen Street (the top of Rowe Boulevard in front of the State House). There will be food/drink/beer vendors in the surface parking lot at the corner of Calvert and Bladen Streets. Roads will be closed (parts of Bladen and College).
We will need volunteers for all sorts of jobs - assistance with directing traffic to parking, ticketing, gate control, wristbands, food truck liaisons, beer truck pourers (21 years and older only), talent liaisons, VIP liaisons, stage help, crowd control, general information, guidance, etc....)
All volunteers will have free parking at the stadium, free ticket to the concert and a t-shirt.:)
Volunteers must be 18 years old.
We will need your preferred first and second choice of shifts. Shifts at 9-12 (set up), 12-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12. Name, address, cell #, email, DOB, preferred first and second shifts, shirt size, any particular skills you would like to share.
We will need at least 100 volunteers.
Preliminary details on the concert:
Parking will be at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium and other public garages/street parking as available.
At least 5,000 attendees are expected.
Tickets will be $25 per person, with kids 10 and under free with paid ticket holder. All proceeds of the ticket sales benefit the victims fund as requested by The Capital staff. Tickets will go on sale soon and will be handled by Rams Head. (Thank you Rams Head).
We have confirmed that Good Charlotte will be our closing band. Other bands and speakers will be confirmed shortly.
There will be a perimeter fence erected to control access to the concert.
